Nyxara was sculpted from English Porcelain clay in my studio, slowly dried over the course of 2-3 months under plastic and bisque fired to 2,400 degrees Fahrenheit in the kiln. The bisqued sculpture was finished with a black underglaze wash and celadon glaze on the horns and eyes before being fired a second time. A trio of fiery teardrop-shaped labradorite stones are embedded down his face. The sculpture is set in a foundation of pigmented resin for stability.

This one-of-a-kind piece measures approximately 19"x16"x14".

Nyxara’s Story

Nyxara emerged from shadow, a guardian forged in darkness whose name comes from Nyx, the primordial Greek God of the night. His skin is cloaked in a deep black underglaze, an armored surface that speaks of strength and endurance. Sky celadon eyes and horns pierce through the darkness with quiet radiance, while his sky-blue spotted neck carries the echo of night breaking toward dawn. Down the front of his head gleam three labradorite stones, gifts of protection and sight beyond the visible.

Nyxara is the sentinel, the watchful keeper who stands between what is known and what remains a mystery to the world. His presence holds the duality of shadow and light. He is formidable yet luminous, a protector and guardian. In his gaze, there is both warning and comfort: the promise that within even the deepest darkness, light is waiting, and that strength is found not in domination, but in the patient act of protection.
